This issue focus designers, architects, and project engineers from around the world who are creating and working with the concept of sustainability, and the second half of the issue focuses on local revitalization in Japan.
The first part of the book features Jakob Trollb ck, who designed the UN's SDGs logo and icon, Sn hetta, whose architecture fosters renewable energy, Bruce Mau, an environmental theorist and designer, and Overtreders W, an environmentally conscious builder. The works and theoretical ideas of these four groups will be introduced.
The second part features seven engineers and designers who have been working on renewable energy projects for a sustainable society, including TOYOTA Woven City, solar and wind power generators, and the Sahara Forest Project. In addition, we interview Tom Szacky, known worldwide for his reuse project "LOOP," about his ideas for a waste-free society.
The third part focuses on community revitalization and introduces the activities of Maebashi City in Gunma Prefecture, where Jin Tanaka is working to revitalize the community through creativity, Yusuhara Town in Kochi Prefecture, where Kengo Kuma's architecture is located, and Kamikatsu Town in Tokushima Prefecture, which has declared itself a "zero-waste" town.
